Rabbi Shaya Kaganoff

Meet Rabbi Shaya Kaganoff

“Remember that time we made wine from scratch?” In Rabbi Kaganoff’s class, the first lesson is simple: learning is fun! His class projects have reached near legendary status and his students quickly absorb his infectious energy and passion for Torah. He also runs Pirchei of South Florida, which enables him to continue doing what he loves, even after the school day is done: teaching young talmidim.

What I do

I bring Torah learning to life for my students. Literally! We’ve reenacted all the 39 Melachos of Shabbos, created tzitzis that could fit Og Melech Habashon, made licorice according to kizayis guidelines and more! These memorable projects help talmidim interact with the Gemarah and Halacha they learn throughout the year, which instills a lifelong love of Torah and learning in each student.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I believe learning should be fun, so I always go the extra mile to come up with new, creative ways to get the students engaged. I challenge them to push themselves and I never give up on any student.

My favorite part about what I do

I love finding new ways to reach students. And when a student becomes self-sufficient? It’s such a rewarding feeling.

Parting Words

The thing that gets me most excited is the opportunity to try something new!
