Dear DACHS Parents,
We are proud to announce the new DACHS Secular Studies Administration as we head into the 2020-2021 school year.
As noted in the email sent out by the Roshei Yeshiva a few days ago, Dr. Gur Berman will be overseeing DACHS’s Secular Studies Department. He brings with him a wealth of experience as a principal, teacher, and curricular expert. We have been working together with him for a few months, and already feel his influence in many areas. We are confident that he will build on Rabbi Levine’s vision for excellence in Secular Studies with his insight and expertise in the field of education.
We are excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Yoni Schwartz as DACHS’s Assistant Principal for Secular Studies. Over the past eight years, Mr. Schwartz has endeared himself to the DACHS community as a beloved teacher and a trusted colleague. After the untimely passing of Rabbi Levine A”H, Mr. Schwartz stepped into a leadership role and became a source of great support to his colleagues in the Secular Studies Department. Behind the scenes, his work was instrumental in working with the teachers to maintain high levels of instruction in our classes, in the transition to distance learning, and in the guidance of many individual students’ Secular Studies challenges and decisions.
Mr. Schwartz, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from American Intercontinental University and a master’s degree in special education from Touro College, will assist Dr. Berman in maintaining and upgrading DACHS’s robust and cutting-edge secular studies program.
This past year was tough on our “DACHS family” with the loss of Rabbi Levine A”H, followed by the upheaval of the pandemic. The teachers joined together as a group, working as a team to keep Rabbi Levine’s vision alive. We thank them for their commitment to our Yeshiva, and feel very fortunate to have such a dedicated staff.
We wish Dr. Berman, Mr. Schwartz, and the entire Secular Studies staff great success, and look forward to this new chapter in DACHS’s short but illustrious history.
Rabbi Yehuda Bergida, Mashgiach
