YTCTE Introduces Dr. Gur Berman as Director of General Studies

We are excited to announce that YTCTE has appointed Dr. Gur Berman as Director of General Studies.

Dr. Berman’s goal will be to maintain and upgrade YTCTE’s robust and cutting edge General Studies program. For the 2020-2021 school year, Dr. Berman’s initial focus will be to support and supervise KES’s General Studies Faculty and in collaboration with the KES principals, oversee the day-to-day educational experience of our KES students. Additionally, he will oversee DACHS’s General Studies department in this transitional period following the untimely passing of our beloved Rabbi David Levine, z’l. Lastly, Dr. Berman’s reach will extend to EECC and RMS, as well. He will focus on these divisions more in the years ahead.

Dr. Berman, who attended YTCTE in his elementary years, is an experienced principal, teacher and curricular expert. He earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cornell and Columbia respectively and then a Doctorate of Education in Instructional and Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Over the past seven years, he served as an assistant principal and principal of Ben Gamla charter schools. The Ben Gamla schools he led were characterized by environments in which teachers felt trusted, appreciated, and supported. As a result, year after year, the students in those schools experienced improved learning as demonstrated by the annual numerical score the state provides all public schools. Prior to his tenure at Ben Gamla, he taught and administered in a number of local Yeshiva Day Schools. Dr. Berman has Semicha (Rabbinic Ordination) from the Rabbi Yitzchak Elchonon Theological Seminary (Yeshiva University).

Over the past several months, Dr. Berman has impressed everyone with whom he interacted, with his wisdom, expertise and calm and caring manner. We welcome Dr. Berman and wish him much success in his new endeavor. We look forward to sharing the Nachas of our students’ increased academic growth and accomplishments.

Best wishes for an enjoyable rest of summer.

Never miss a moment.
