Mrs. Aliza Askotzky

Meet Mrs. Aliza Askotzky

When you want to touch the lives of children, sometimes the best place to start is at the beginning of their educational journey. After a 23-year career in a variety of key Early Childhood roles, it’s no surprise that Mrs. Askotzky is very passionate about the growth that takes place during these formative years.

What I do

I help support our amazing teachers so they can provide the best early childhood experience to the children. There’s a little bit of everything mixed in there. I develop curriculum, brainstorm ways to provide the children with the most enriching and meaningful learning opportunities, help troubleshoot when a challenge arises and empower each teacher to grow in a way that taps into her unique strengths and talents.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I take pride in the incredibly dedicated team of teachers we have. Each one is so passionate about what she does and is always looking for opportunities to grow. I make sure I’m always available to support the teachers in any area where they need help.

My favorite part about what I do

The synergy of collaborating with my teachers! It’s so satisfying to come up with new ideas and then see the children deeply engage with them once they’re implemented.

Parting Words

Joining YTCTE gave me an opportunity to make an impact in a field I’m very passionate about. Together, our entire team of early childhood educators continues to find new ways to shape the EECC program into a more child-centered, play-based learning environment!

Mrs. Batsheva Marlowe

Meet Mrs. Batsheva Marlowe

When it comes to keeping a finger on the emotional pulse of students, Mrs. Marlowe has it down to a science. Maybe it’s her 30+ years experience as an educator. Or maybe it’s her passion and innate ability to build an easy rapport with children. Whatever it is, she has a gold medal talent for understanding students in both the school and home environment.

What I do

I believe in every child’s ability to succeed! My job and life mission is to ensure the academic, social and emotional success and well-being of all of our students.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I support everyone in different ways. I’m an anchor for the more vulnerable children while the social skills I teach in classrooms help me reach a broader range of children. I provide our students with leadership opportunities through the mentoring program and am an all-around resource for both teachers and students.

My favorite part about what I do

Being part of the growth process for our students! I get so excited knowing every day is an opportunity to reach more of our children and empower them to reach their fullest potential.

Parting Words

It’s amazing being part of a professional team that strives for excellence in every area. Each year, we find new ways to raise the bar. The dedication to every child’s success is inspiring.

Mrs. Esta Rosenberg

Meet Mrs. Esta Rosenberg

Mrs. Rosenberg has been on both sides of the school yard ‘fence,’ so to speak, which gives her a unique perspective on the educational process. A YTCTE PTA president for 10 years and educator for 8 years, she’s committed to setting her girls up for success in their future exploration of Torah.

What I do

I teach my girls the fundamental skills they need to thrive in reading and writing Hebrew.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

Sometimes students struggle with the material. It’s a natural part of the learning process. Part of being a good educator is knowing when to step in with additional support and when to stand back and let a child work through the problem on her own. I strive to maintain that balance, which is why it’s so incredibly rewarding to see a student succeed at something she’s been struggling with.

My favorite part about what I do

The best part of my day is seeing the smiles on my girls’ faces as they enter the classroom each morning. What an amazing way to start each day!

Parting Words

I take pride in the growth of my students over the course of the school year. The only thing that’s better than watching their progress is seeing their delight and confidence when they realize how far they’ve come in the development of their skills.

Mrs. Pearly Bagdadi

Meet Mrs. Pearly Bagdadi

Mrs. Bagdadi has been in early childhood education for 25 years and the love she has for her job and students is palpable. ‘Fun’ and ‘learning’ are inseparable for her, and that philosophy permeates every aspect of her approach to teaching. She just can’t wait to infuse each new class of children with a love for learning!

What I do

I’m a kindergarten secular teacher. My children learn how to read, write and start working with math. Most important of all: I teach the children how to get along with one another, and to love school and doing work.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I make school a fun and enjoyable place to be for my students. (Which is extra important in kindergarten, when children are asked to do so much.) I make it an exciting experience, so they want to learn more.

My favorite part about what I do

The end of the school year, but not because school is over! That’s when I get to see how much my students have grown from when they started. It’s also so rewarding when I get letters from parents, thanking me for everything I’ve done for their children!

Parting Words

When someone wakes up happy to go to work, it’s a sign they’re working at the right place with the right people. That’s how I feel every morning. Ever since my first day at YTCTE, I felt I was part of a family.

Mrs. Miriam Wieder

Meet Mrs. Miriam Wieder

Mrs. Wieder lights up every time she sees one of her students. She loves them dearly and is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure their success. Her dedication, responsibility and easy going nature make her a favorite with both staff and students.

What I do

I work side by side with the teacher, instilling a love for learning and yiddishkeit in the children while also keeping everything organized!

How I make a difference at YTCTE

Kindergarten is an exciting time. Sometimes it gets a little chaotic, too. I think my organizational skills make a big difference in bringing order to the classroom.

My favorite part about what I do

Watching the children flourish throughout the year. It’s so motivating to see our students enjoying school and developing relationships with others. And of course, seeing their smiling faces is the best!

Parting Words

My children went through YTCTE. After seeing what an amazing school it was, I was eager to join.

Mrs. Chana Ioffe

Meet Mrs. Chana Ioffe

Great teachers know their craft is equal parts knowledge and enthusiasm, and Mrs. Ioffe is a testament to that ‘insider’ knowledge. She delights in getting her students excited about the life lesson that lies behind every pasuk, and she’s always ready to learn new things alongside them.

What I do

I help ‘tinokos shel beis rabban’ grow spiritually and help instill in them a deep love and a strong connection to Hashem.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

By really caring about every aspect of each one of my students: their hopes, needs, and goals; and focusing on that ‘something special’ that makes them each unique.

My favorite part about what I do

Seeing my students year later- many years later- remembering me, thanking me, and continuing to grow b’derech haTorah.

Parting Words

As a teacher, I am not just teaching. Every day, I’m learning with and through my students.

Mrs. Rena Goldman

Meet Mrs. Rena Goldman

Compassionate, insightful and overflowing with positive energy, Mrs. Goldman understands how to reach students who need extra support to thrive in their studies, whether it’s Kriah, reading, math or more. Her focus on goal oriented learning sessions keeps students motivated and progressing steadily.

What I do

I empower children to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. When students are struggling with learning challenges, I provide them with the support and engaging, multisensory learning experiences they need to thrive.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I create a warm, safe and predictable learning environment so my students are set up to succeed. Then I hone in on each child’s unique strengths and help them expand on those abilities.

My favorite part about what I do

It’s exciting to have the opportunity to enable my students to work hard and feel good about their efforts. (And of course – the results of those efforts are rewarding, too!)

Parting Words

In the ACE Resource Room, we’re building more than the skills our students need to master the curriculum. We’re empowering children to succeed on multiple levels, both inside and outside the classroom, while developing their confidence and sense of self. I’m proud to be a part of that.

Mrs. Talia Levine

Meet Mrs. Talia Levine

To say Mrs. Levine is good at what she does would be an understatement. She’s charged with the overall learning experience of YTCTE’s youngest students. Under her guidance, the division has grown both physically and academically, laying the foundation for more children to discover a lifelong love of Torah and learning.

What I do

I oversee the Esformes Early Childhood Center division and all matters relating to teachers and students. That includes everything from development of curriculum and policies, to admission decisions, daily operations, parent meetings, budget decisions and more.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I’m able to relate to and work with so many different types of teachers and families. That’s been central to the growth the EECC has had in the last few years.

My favorite part about what I do

I’m proud of how open our teachers and staff are to embracing new ideas and tackling challenges. I also love the opportunity to continually learn and grow while supporting, guiding and educating children and teachers.

Parting Words

I am truly grateful to be in this position.  It is incredibly fulfilling to work with my team to create a nurturing Torah environment and to witness the joy and growth of the children each and every day!  It is an added bonus to do it in a place that is so near and dear to my family, being that my husband and his siblings are graduates of YTCTE.

Mrs. Devorah Heisler

Meet Mrs. Devorah Heisler

Motivated, passionate, and incredibly hardworking, Mrs. Heisler has been part of the YTCTE family since she was very young. She attended as a child, worked here as an assistant teacher during college, taught full-time after graduating with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, and now both Mrs. Heisler and her husband are devoted educators at YTCTE.

What I Do

I teach first grade in addition to coordinating the Limudei Kodesh curriculum.  I help to ensure that new teachers feel supported in knowing the grade-level appropriate material to cover in their classes. I also collaborate on school-wide programs that encourage yedios haTorah and summer review.

How I Make a Difference at YTCTE

I encourage all students to reach their potential and help each teacher feel confident in knowing that they have the tools they need to be a successful teacher.  I’m passionate about Torah and hope to instill that love for Torah learning and the Torah way of life into all of our students while helping other teachers to do the same.  I hope to inspire future generations to see the beauty in living a Torah life.

My Favorite Part about What I Do

It is incredibly fulfilling to work alongside an incredible team of educators who are just as passionate about our mission as I am.  Helping students learn the skills they need to be life-long learners is so rewarding and there is nothing quite like seeing a student who was struggling, persevere and get it!

Parting Words

I loved growing up in NMB and going to YTCTE as a child.  I always wanted to give back to the school and community I was raised in. Now I get to do exactly that, every day!

Mrs. Annette Saks

Meet Mrs. Annette Saks

Second grade is a special time of discovery, where the seeds for a lifelong love of learning are carefully nurtured. That’s why Mrs. Saks takes care to ensure her students enjoy a special year of learning and fun during their time in her classroom.

What I do

I teach all Secular Studies subjects to the 2nd grade girls! In addition, when we are able to have a school garden, I organize and maintain it with the students, helping them plant, weed, and harvest vegetables and flowers.

How I make a difference at YTCTE

I believe that infusing my students with a love of reading in second grade will set them on the path to becoming lifelong readers. That’s why I strive to impart that love at every opportunity.

My favorite part about what I do

I get to fulfill my life mission every day, which is teaching students to appreciate the world around them, be kind to others and be positive role models in our community.

Parting Words

Once I joined YTCTE, I was thrilled because I became part of a close family of educators who work tirelessly on behalf of their students and the YTCTE families.
